Megalithic Temples of Malta

The Megalithic Temples of Malta are the oldest free-standing structures on Earth, even older than the Pyramids.

Remarkable for:   Well... they're big. And they're old. For the more inquisitive, they are also further proof that the earth was once inhabited by giants.

The Brutalist Architecture

Brutalist architecture is a style of architecture which flourished from the 1950s to the mid 1970s, spawned from the modernist architectural movement.

Remarkable for:   Brutalist buildings are usually made out of concrete, have a striking look and tend to be rough, with prominent corners and sharp edges. They may look formidable, much like medieval fortresses, or poor, cold and unkept. Some critics find they project totalitarianism.
